TECH-FITT Platform™

Many facilities end up with a patchwork of different steam traps that is hard to support and slow to adapt. The Platform standardizes traps system-wide for simpler support, while letting you swap internal components as requirements change. Every model reduces the need for expensive spare-parts inventory, and SMS products come with industry-best warranties.

Energy audit services

Rigorous, unbiased audits that make the investment case.

We specialize in healthcare, schools and public buildings. Our engineering-based, investment-grade audits give you payback periods, savings-to-investment ratios and internal rates of return to justify projects. In many areas, utility incentives and rebates cover some or all of the cost, and we help you apply.

01

Plant walk-through

An on-site visit plus a review of utility data to find simple actions that deliver immediate savings.

02

Steam energy audit

A systems engineer surveys your distribution and condensate system. Traps are located, tested, tagged and mapped, and recommendations come with payback rates.

03

Comprehensive audit

Building- or campus-wide analysis of boilers, distribution, condensate return and controls, with savings modeling, time-to-payback and internal rates of return.

We may recommend TECH-FITT® products where they fit, but our goal is an objective audit that holds up throughout the project's life cycle.

Case study

Gundersen Lutheran Health System

A regional health system in La Crosse, Wisconsin, named the nation's most energy-efficient hospital by Fast Company in 2012. Needing reliability and durability in a high-demand setting, it converted to TECH-FITT® traps in three phases over five years.

~740TECH-FITT® traps installed
5–100psig across the system
3 phasesrollout completed in 2008

The traps serve distribution lines, air handling units, heat exchangers, humidifiers and unit heaters, letting the hospital focus its resources on patient care.

About SMS

Engineering rigor, industrial design and decades of listening.

Our technology comes from experiencing customers' steam plants first-hand. Our multidisciplinary team pairs an engineer's exacting approach with an industrial designer's creative thinking, from concept to rapid prototyping. We reject one-size-fits-all solutions and built-in obsolescence.

Our mission is to deliver the highest quality products and solutions in our field, creating maximum value for our customers.

  • Products customized to each facility's needs
  • Lower capital, operating and maintenance costs
  • Training and product support for your team
  • Designed and manufactured in the USA for over two decades

Sustainability

Efficient steam means a smaller carbon footprint.

Commercial buildings are major consumers of natural resources and a substantial source of carbon emissions. Every trap that leaks steam means more fuel, water and chemicals burned to replace it. SMS traps and audits help customers cut energy use and emissions while improving the bottom line.
